Yuva Sathi Prakalpa Application Process

Yuva Sathi Prakalpa Application Process 2026: Eligibility, Documents & Step-by-Step

Yuva Sathi Prakalpa Application Process 2026: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee first announced Yuva Sathi Prakalpa (যুবসাথী প্রকল্প) to give West Bengal’s unemployed youth a small monthly cushion while they searched for work. If you’re trying to understand how the application process worked — who was eligible, which documents were needed, and how the camps and online form actually functioned — this guide covers it in full, along with an important update on where things stand today.

Before You Start: Applications Are Currently Closed

This is worth knowing upfront, so you don’t spend time preparing documents for a window that’s no longer open. The original application period ran through February 2026, and registration has not reopened since. Following a change in the state government in mid-2026, this scheme is being phased out in favour of a new one — the Bhorsa Karmasathi Scheme — which offers ₹3,000 per month but has not opened applications yet either.

If you already applied and want to check your existing status, or want the full story on the new scheme, that’s covered in our separate Yuva Sathi status check and payment update guide. The rest of this article explains how the original process worked, which remains useful if you already submitted an application, or as a reference for what a similar process may look like once the new scheme opens.

What Was Yuva Sathi Prakalpa?

Yuva Sathi Prakalpa was a monthly financial assistance scheme announced as part of West Bengal’s interim budget for 2026–27. It was designed for youth who had passed their Madhyamik (Class 10) examination but remained unemployed, giving them ₹1,500 a month for up to five years, or until they found a job — whichever came first. The scheme was formally rolled out from April 1, 2026, with the amount transferred directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts.

Who Was Eligible?

To apply for Yuva Sathi Prakalpa, an applicant needed to meet all of the following:

  • Residency: Must be a permanent resident of West Bengal.
  • Age: Between 21 and 40 years, calculated as on April 1, 2026.
  • Education: Must have passed Madhyamik (Class 10) or an equivalent board examination. Those with higher qualifications were also eligible, since Madhyamik was only the minimum requirement.
  • Employment status: Must be currently unemployed at the time of applying.
  • No overlapping benefits: Applicants already receiving a regular government job, or financial assistance under another state social security scheme, were not eligible. Educational scholarships (such as Aikyashree or Swami Vivekananda Merit-cum-Means) did not count against this and were allowed alongside Yuva Sathi.

How the Application Process Worked

There were two ways to apply: in person at a dedicated camp, or online.

Option 1: Applying Through a Yuva Sathi Camp (অফলাইন আবেদন)

  1. Locate the Yuva Sathi camp set up in your assembly constituency (all 294 constituencies in West Bengal hosted one, similar to the Duare Sarkar model).
  2. Collect the application form, self-declaration form, and bank mandate form free of cost at the camp.
  3. Fill in your personal, educational, and bank details by hand.
  4. Attach self-attested photocopies of all required documents.
  5. Submit the form at the counter and collect your acknowledgement receipt — this contained your Application Reference ID, needed for any future status check.

Option 2: Applying Online

  1. Visit the official Banglar Yuva Sathi portal and register using your mobile number and OTP.
  2. Set a password and log in to your applicant dashboard.
  3. Fill in personal details: name, address, district, date of birth, and family income.
  4. Enter educational details: board, year of passing, and marks.
  5. Add your Aadhaar-linked bank account number and IFSC code.
  6. Upload clear scanned copies of your Aadhaar card, photograph, Madhyamik marksheet, and bank passbook.
  7. Review every field carefully — especially spellings and dates — before hitting submit.
  8. Save the Application Reference ID that appears on your confirmation screen.

What Happens Now? The Shift to Bhorsa Karmasathi

West Bengal saw a change of state government in mid-2026, and the incoming administration confirmed a replacement scheme — Bhorsa Karmasathi — in its state budget, offering ₹3,000 a month instead of ₹1,500. As of this writing, the application portal for this new scheme has not launched, and the government hasn’t released final eligibility rules or a confirmed start date. If you were planning to apply for Yuva Sathi, it’s worth holding on to the same documents listed above (Aadhaar, Voter ID, Madhyamik certificates, bank passbook, and photograph), since the new scheme is likely to ask for something similar.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I still apply for Yuva Sathi Prakalpa today? No. The application window closed in February 2026 and has not reopened. New applicants will need to wait for the Bhorsa Karmasathi Scheme’s portal to launch.

What if I have some but not all of the required documents? Applications with incomplete documentation were generally rejected during verification. For any future scheme, it’s best to prepare every listed document in advance rather than applying partially.

Is a bank account compulsory? Yes. The scheme paid out via Direct Benefit Transfer, so an active, Aadhaar-linked bank account in the applicant’s own name was mandatory.
